The forums aren’t the same anymore. Back then, it was supposed to be a replacement for the Discord server, but it was criticized and then the forums was now completely off-topic. Also with debates that happened.

I prefer Discord more than the forums. Seems to be relatively moderated unlike the forums, I think.
