Release Update - August 8, 2023

  • Engine Update: We made a very big update to our engine which should have improved how games run. Players should feel like their characters move much more smoothly, and that games overall have less jitter. If you are still experiencing issues, let us know.
  • Particle Effects: You can now add particle effects to your games! These are additional effects to make your games and unit animations more interesting. You can add these effects through a script and uploading your own custom animations.   • Chat Outside Games: Chat is now available outside of games. You can access your direct messages from the Moddio Homepage and other non-game pages by clicking on “Chat” in the bottom left corner of your screen.
  • Game Communities: You can now join “communities” for your favorite games by clicking on the star button on the Home page or in the Title Screen of a game. This allows you to receive broadcasts/announcements from creators even when outside of games. Your joined communities will appear at the top of your Home page and in the sidebar inside of games. You will also have access to locked “Community chat” within your communities.
  • Edit map tiles: You can now move multiple map tiles with a single action within your scripts
  • Users can now receive notifications for chat messages even when not on a Moddio tab. Make sure to allow this so that you don’t miss announcements or community chat messages!
  • Roles and Moderation tools are now built in for games. Creators can customize how these roles appear and what features they have access to.
  • Creator activity no longer shows to followers when within a hidden game
  • Users are now notified when a disconnection occurs
  • Made improvements to joystick movement for mobile controls

  • String variables not working for some users
  • Users were losing game data when servers restarted
  • Roles tab would sometimes not load
  • Issue where kick and ban would not work
  • Fixed several map bugs
  • Flipping item sprite was not working correctly
  • Clicking on dialogue placed over a region selected a region
  • Hotkey for entity placement was not working
  • Dragging and clicking sometimes opened region editor
  • Fixed “Clear Layer” tool
